Program Learning Outcome (PLO) The program provides opportunity for graduates to be:

After completing the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine Study Program, graduates continue their education in the Veterinary Profession, mastering veterinary sciences and possessing professional abilities that are broad-minded, have a scientific, moral, and ethical attitude in accordance with veterinary medical authority in the fields of biomedicine, animal health systems, the environment, monitoring the safety and quality of animal products so that BVM graduates are able to continue to the PPVM to become veterinarians, continue their studies to postgraduate studies, work as academics, researchers, community leaders, animal health consultants, veterinary public health and universal health (one health), as well as becoming an entrepreneur in the veterinary field.

Intended Learning Outcome (ILO) consist of:

A.   Attitude (A)

A1. Serve faithfully to God Almighty by showing an attitude of tolerance in the life of society, nation, and state based on Pancasila by developing the philosophy of love for the homeland, nationalism, discipline, obeying the law, social sensitivity, concern for surrounding communities and environment, as well as appreciate and value the cultural diversity and the works of others.

A2. Mastering the concept of academic integrity and efforts to prevent violations.

B.    Knowledge (K)

K1. Able to conclude the condition of animal health theoretically through anatomical, physiological, clinical symptoms, pathological changes, and laboratory diagnostics accurately and according to the rules to support the diagnoses of animal disease, concerning the veterinary code of ethics, the national animal health system, and veterinary legislation.

K2. Able to design the concept of animal health management through veterinary public health and one health approach for the rejection, prevention, control, eradication, and treatment of animal diseases appropriately based on animal health and environment legislation via promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative actions.

C.    General Skill (GS)

GS1. Capable of applying logical, critical, systematic, and innovative thinking as well as following professional ethics to realize independent, entrepreneurial, quality-assured, and measurable performance for the development and application of veterinary science and technology, being responsible for veterinary medical needs, and able to work together in the team.

GS2. Able to apply and use humanities values according to their expertise based on scientific principles, procedures, and ethics in order to produce solutions, ideas, designs, or veterinary technology innovations, and publish excellent and innovative scientific articles, prototypes, intellectual property rights, as well as designs and products that beneficial to the wider community.

GS3. Able to use information technology, adapt, work together, contribute, be creative, and be innovative in applying science to social life, as well as act as a global citizen with a global perspective.

D.   Special Skill (SS)

Possess theoretical skills in concluding the condition of healthy and ill animals through anatomical, physiological, clinical symptoms, pathological changes, and laboratory diagnostics accurately and according to the rules for the purpose of supporting the determination of animal disease diagnoses, with reference to the veterinary code of ethics, the national animal health system, and veterinary legislation.

Admission requirements

There are three options for admission to this program: National Selection for State University Entrance (SNMPTN), Joint Entrance Selection for State Universities (SBMPTN), and Entrance Selection (West SMMPTN)

The general entry requirement for these three types of admission is that applicants have successfully completed their secondary education (Sekolah Tinggi) as indicated by a graduation diploma from High School.

Specific entry requirements for each registration option:

1. National Selection for State University Admission (SNMPTN)

SNMPTN is carried out based on tracking academic achievements using reports from the first to fifth semesters for 3 years of high school and academic portfolios.

b. Schools whose students apply for SNMPTN must have a National School Identification Number (NPSN) and student academic achievements registered with the School and Student Database (PDSS) / School and Student Database.

c. Applicants have a National Student Identity Number, have excellent academic performance, and are documented in the School and Student Database (PDSS) / School and Student Database.

2. Joint Entrance Selection of State Universities (SBMPTN)

a. Graduates from high school who have graduated a maximum of the last three years and already have a graduation certificate.

b. High school students who have just graduated and have not yet received a diploma are allowed to use a Graduate Certificate (SKL) which contains the student’s identity, recent photo of the graduate, and the original stamp of the school of origin.

3. High School Entrance Path for PTN-WEST

SMM PTN-WEST is a selection of new student candidates for independent pathways whose implementation is carried out jointly between state universities that are members of the BKS-PTN Indonesia West Region. The implementation of the selection is based on the results of the computer-based written exam (UTBK) which is carried out jointly under the coordination of the PTN-WEST SMM committee.

4. Admission of New Students at Syiah Kuala University through the Talent Selection of Syiah Kuala University with Achievements is a program of screening prospective students of Syiah Kuala University who have the ability/achievement in the fields of academic, leadership, character or interest in certain talents as a means to get excellent prospective students who have leadership qualities. , have character and achieve through the SMMPTN-WEST (Self-Selection for Entrance to Western Region State Universities) Indonesia

Teaching Learning, and Assessment Strategies

The credit point for BVM in 8 semesters is 158, where 130 points are for major competence courses, 6 points are for national compulsory courses, 6 points for university compulsory courses, and 16 points for facultative courses. The facultative courses are adjusted with the requirements of stakeholders and society. Some courses require laboratory practice to enhance students’ skills in specific fields.

The BVM of FVM USK curriculum have been developed based on competency-based curriculum and implemented through student centred learning (SCL) method to substitute the former method of teacher centred learning (TCL).
