Drh. Teuku Reza Ferasyi, M.Sc., Ph.D has once again been entrusted to serve as the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Universitas Syiah Kuala for the period of 2024 – 2026. He officially assumed this responsibility after being inaugurated and sworn in by the Rector of USK, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, at the VIP Lobby of the AAC Dayan Dawood Building (Banda Aceh, April 17, 2024).

In his address, the Rector expressed gratitude for T. Reza Ferasyi’s willingness to lead FVM USK once again. According to the Rector, FVM has been developing very well. Considering that FVM is one of the oldest faculties at USK, its presence has been pivotal in realizing the university’s vision and mission.

One indicator of FVM’s development is the increasing number of graduates completing their studies on time, reaching 85%. Additionally, the number of alumni entering the workforce has also increased to 90%. Furthermore, FVM USK alumni are now spread across all provinces in Indonesia.

“All of these achievements are our collective pride. These achievements are proof that FVM continues to develop. Therefore, we hope that the next leadership can be even better,” said the Rector.

According to the Rector, all of these achievements are positive as they help enhance the university’s reputation in society. However, the Rector reminded FVM not to be complacent and to be prepared to face various challenges ahead.

One of the challenges is that FVM USK must be prepared as it is no longer the only veterinary medicine faculty in Sumatra. The provinces of West Sumatra and Riau are in the process of establishing similar faculties.

“This is a challenge for us, how to attract the interest of prospective students from outside Aceh to study in this faculty. This also applies to those in Aceh, because this faculty was established to promote development in Aceh,” said the Rector.

Also present at the event were the Vice-Rectors of USK, the Chair of the University’s Academic Senate, the Secretary of the Board of Trustees, the Deans, the Directors, and other guests.
