Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) sent three faculty deans to participate in the Faculty Leadership Training Program Towards World-Class University (WCU), organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology from August 1-3, 2024, in Jakarta.

The deans who attended include the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, drh. Teuku Reza Ferasyi, M.Sc, Ph.D; the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Dr. Faisal, SE, M.Si, MA; and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Safrizal Rahman, M.Kes, Sp.OT.

The training event was opened by the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, represented by the Secretary of the Higher Education Council, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA.

He stated that the goal of the training is to encourage and support higher education institutions in Indonesia to continually improve their quality and become world-class universities (WCU).

“This effort must be ongoing, as the process to become a WCU requires consistent and sustained effort over a long period,” said Prof. Kadarsah.

He further mentioned, “Therefore, a training program is needed for higher education leaders, especially for faculty/school leaders, to strengthen their commitment, leadership spirit, and strategies to enhance the quality and reputation of the faculties/schools they lead.”

The Rector of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, in his remarks, urged the participating deans to carefully study the strategies outlined by the speakers to support USK in becoming a World-Class University (WCU).

It is hoped that the participation of these faculty deans will further strengthen the structured steps to achieve USK’s goal of becoming a WCU.
