The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Syiah Kuala (FVM USK) initiated the EXVERT (Exchange Veterinary Expertise) program in 2024 through collaboration with top academic institutions at both national and global levels. This program aims to support professors and experienced lecturers by providing them with opportunities to deliver public lectures, seminars, and workshops at various universities or academic institutions.
On September 30, 2024, one of FVM USK’s professors, Prof. Dr. Drh. M. Hanafiah, M.P., received financial support to engage in research collaboration discussions and present a scientific seminar at the Institute of Tropical Diseases, Universitas Airlangga (ITD UNAIR). UNAIR is currently ranked 308th globally in the QS World University Rankings. Prof. Dr. Drh. M. Hanafiah, M.P. led discussions on potential research collaborations, focusing on the study of the morphology of Setaria spp. worms in Aceh cattle.
The seminar was attended by various study groups within ITD, including the Toxoplasma Study Group, Leptospirosis Study Group, Hepatitis, Entomology, HIV, and Avian Influenza groups.
During the visit, several collaborative plans were agreed upon, such as joint research and sample collection collaborations. Initially, samples that have already been collected will be sent for further studies.
Drh. Teuku Reza Ferasyi, M.Sc., Ph.D., the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Syiah Kuala University, expressed his appreciation for the successful implementation of the EXVERT program. He hopes that similar activities involving professors from the faculty will continue to support the university’s Key Performance Indicators (IKU).
Prof. Dr. drh. M. Hanafiah, M.P. received the Cooperation Agreement Document between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Universitas Syiah Kuala (FVM USK) and the Institute of Tropical Diseases, Universitas Airlangga (ITD UNAIR), which was handed over by Prof. Dr. drh. Fedik Abdul Rantam, Secretary of the Institute of Tropical Diseases at Airlangga University.
