About
The Doctor of Veterinary Science (DVS) Study Program at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Syiah Kuala (FVM USK), is a doctoral program within FVM USK. Student admissions for the PS-DVS FVM USK are conducted twice a year. To achieve the learning objectives, the program follows the curriculum structure of PS-DVS FVM USK, which spans three years (six semesters) with a total of 50 credits.
The DVS Study Program at FVM USK offers education through two pathways: coursework and research. The curriculum structure of PS-DVS FVM USK is developed based on Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with lecturers, graduate profile surveys, alumni feedback, and stakeholder input. The academic and learning curriculum in PS-DVS FVM USK consists of 50 credits for both the coursework and research pathways.
PS-DVS FVM USK offers five specializations:
- Wildlife/Aquatic Animal Medicine
- Veterinary Biomedical Science
- Animal Biosciences
- Veterinary Public Health and One Health
- Reproductive Biology and Medicine
PS-DVS FVM USK will be the first and only doctoral study program at USK that comprehensively focuses on Veterinary Science.

Mewujudkan PS-DSV FKH USK yang inovatif, mandiri, dan terkemuka dalam melaksanakan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi dengan kepakaran bidang sains veteriner khususnya bidang kedokteran hewan tropis (tropical veterinary medicine) dan medik konservasi satwa liar/akuatik berwawasan socio-technopreneurship serta direkognisi secara global.
mission
To organize and develop doctoral-level academic education in Veterinary Science that is innovative and based on modern learning technology, producing excellent and high-quality graduates with an entrepreneurial spirit while upholding religious morals and ethical values.
To conduct sustainable and applied research and community service with innovation and excellence, aiming to generate high-quality new discoveries in Veterinary Science, particularly in tropical veterinary medicine and wildlife/aquatic animal conservation medicine, grounded in religion, morality, ethics, animal health, public health, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare.
To serve as a center for partnerships and expand collaborations as a reference for expertise in veterinary science and technology with international standards, supporting the independence of Syiah Kuala University in resource development.
To implement an integrated quality management system in both academic and non-academic fields by applying principles of transparency, productive participation, effectiveness, and efficiency, while ensuring accountable governance in the administration of the Doctor of Veterinary Science education program.
