The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) provided training on the production of natural disinfectant from Balakacida leaves as a measure to prevent Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle in Gampong Pulot, Leupung District, Aceh Besar Regency, on Sunday, August 4, 2024. This activity involved providing guidance and socialization to farmer groups regarding the prevention of LSD in cattle. The team participating in the activity included faculty members from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at USK.
The head of the community service team from FVM-USK, Dr. Drh. Nurliana, M.Si, stated that this activity is part of a series of community service initiatives. “We have titled this activity ‘Training on the Production of Natural Disinfectant from Balakacida Leaves as a Measure to Prevent Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in Cattle.’ Additionally, this service involved several lecturers, including Wahyu Eka Sari, S.Si., M.Si, and Drh. Lian Varis Riandi, M.Si, with the aim of developing the human resources in Gampong Pulot’s livestock sector,” explained Dr. Drh. Nurliana, M.Si.
She added that activities like this are expected to optimize the growth and development of human resources in Gampong Pulot, Leupung District, Aceh Besar Regency. The community service was conducted as part of a series of outreach activities, including guidance on producing natural disinfectant from Balakacida leaves to prevent LSD.
