The joint planting activity carried out by students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at USK is a concrete step toward rehabilitating the mangrove ecosystem along the coast of Alue Naga Beach. The event was directly supervised by the Assistance Team of the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, alumni, and partnerships, Dr. Drh. Faisal Jamin, M.Si, and Drh. Lian Varis Riandi, M.Si.

Additionally, the rehabilitated mangrove area can be utilized as a facility for education, research, and community service, with hopes that it will evolve into a thriving mangrove area. The mangrove planting initiative is an effective way to mitigate disasters and improve coastal ecosystems in support of low-carbon development.

This activity is part of the Pakarmaru agenda, involving the Student Executive Board (BEM), the Pakarmaru committee, Natural Aceh, and the 2024 Students of the USK Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The mangrove ecosystem can prevent coastal erosion, act as a wave barrier, and store more carbon than other ecosystems. Furthermore, this activity can significantly contribute to disaster mitigation, especially in coastal areas.
