BANDA ACEH – The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (RSHP) Prof. Dr. Noerjanto at Syiah Kuala University successfully held a rabies vaccination event in commemoration of World Rabies Day 2024. This event was a collaboration with PDHI (the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association) Aceh Branch and UKM Miproheksa, a student organization from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, USK, on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

The Director of RSHP USK, Dr. Masda Admi, M.Si, explained that cat lovers from the community showed high enthusiasm by bringing more than 150 cats for vaccination, exceeding the initial target of 140. “This demonstrates the community’s awareness of the importance of vaccination,” she stated.

Dr. Masda also emphasized the importance of disease prevention through vaccination. “Prevention is better than cure. Vaccination is a preventive step to maintain the health of animals, especially since some diseases show no symptoms,” she said.

RSHP USK offers various services, including animal treatment and education on animal health management. With six expert veterinarians, RSHP is ready to assist the community in improving animal welfare.

In addition, RSHP USK has established partnerships with animal clinics in Banda Aceh to provide X-ray and blood analysis services, expanding the available animal health services. “We also issue vaccination record books, making it easier for pet owners to continue vaccinations at clinics,” Dr. Masda concluded.

This rabies vaccination event aimed to prevent the spread of rabies, which must be done regularly for its effectiveness. Besides rabies, the community is also reminded to vaccinate their pets against other diseases.
