Serdang, February 26, 2025 – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Syiah Kuala (FVM USK), conducted an academic visit to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia (FVM UPM), to strengthen academic collaboration and observe the educational and research facilities available at the university.
The FVM USK delegation was led by Dean of FVM USK, Drh. T. Reza Ferasyi, M.Sc., Ph.D, and Chairman of the FVM USK Senate, Dr. Drh. Sugito, M.Si, accompanied by five other faculty members. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Dean of FVM UPM, YBhg. Prof. Dr. Goh Yong Meng, who expressed his appreciation for the visit as a positive step in strengthening inter-institutional collaboration.

As part of the visit, YBrs. Prof. Madya Dr. Mokrish Md. Ajat delivered a presentation on the faculty’s academic programs, research activities, and contributions to the field of veterinary medicine. Additionally, the FVM USK delegation was given a tour of key facilities at FVM UPM, including specialized laboratories and the Animal Anatomy Museum, which serves as a learning and research resource. The facility tour was led by YBrs. Dr. Amirul Nazhan Ilias, with support from laboratory staff.

This visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to share experiences and explore further collaboration in academics and research. Moreover, the FVM USK delegation gained valuable insights into innovations and developments in veterinary education at FVM UPM.

To conclude the visit, the FVM USK delegation had the opportunity to meet with former Dean of FVM UPM, YBhg. Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman, who shared his experiences and perspectives on the development of veterinary medicine in ASEAN.
