A total of 104 students from the Professional Education Program for Veterinary Doctors (PPVM Program) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) recently took the national competency exam held on May 16-17, 2025. The exam was conducted in two formats: the first day was a Computer-Based Test (CBT) held at the computer laboratory of USK’s Information and Communication Technology Technical Implementation Unit. On the second day, the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) was conducted at FVM USK. The OSCE exam involved direct observation by examiners to assess the candidates’ abilities in interacting with pet owners and their skills in performing medical treatments and procedures. The CBT and OSCE exams were directly supervised by monitors from the Central Supervisory Agency who were present on-site.
The exam results were announced on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, revealing that 96% of the PPVM FVM USK students passed both tests. Additionally, one of the exam participants achieved the highest national score of 93 points.
USK’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, welcomed the positive results of the national competency exam achieved by the PPVM FVM USK students. “These results prove that the educational standards at FVM USK are on par with national levels, both in terms of curriculum and medical expertise. This is certainly also a result of the implementation of the outcome-based education (OBE) curriculum by the teaching staff at FVM, in line with USK’s policies to support the achievement of World Class University (WCU) standards,” emphasized Prof. Marwan.
The Dean of FVM USK, Drh. Teuku Reza Ferasyi, MSc., PhD., expressed his happiness and pride over the high pass rate of the PPVM FVM USK exam participants. FVM USK is also supported by adequate OSCE exam and training facilities, funded by USK. “Alhamdulillah, one of FVM USK’s students achieved the highest score in the national competency exam, namely Ikhsan Arya Pranata,” Reza stated.
“We pray that all graduating students will soon secure employment after being inaugurated and taking their oath as new veterinary doctors,” Reza hoped.
