UKM HiMPHarsia
This Student Activity Unit (UKM) is named the Association of Students Who Love Large Animals and Ruminants, abbreviated as HiMPHarsia, in accordance with the established naming convention. This UKM was founded at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Syiah Kuala University, on October 5, 2012, for an indefinite period.
Vission
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine’s vision is to become an innovative, independent, and leading in implementing the three pillars of higher education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi) with reliable human resources in developing and implementing veterinary technology at the international level by 2030.
Mission
- To enhance the competence of members in knowledge, skills, and care for large animals and ruminants through educational activities, training, and field practice.
- To foster leadership, professional ethics, and a spirit of collaboration among members in carrying out their roles as future veterinarians responsible for animal and public health.
- To conduct community service activities aimed at empowering livestock farmers and improving the health and welfare of large animals and ruminants.
- To support academic and applied research activities relevant to livestock and large/ruminant veterinary science.
- To establish partnerships with internal and external institutions for expanding insight, experience, and tangible contributions in the field of veterinary medicine.

HiMPHarsia contributes to food security and improved nutrition by promoting livestock productivity and the sustainable management of ruminant health, ensuring the availability of quality animal-based food sources. - SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being
Maintaining the health and welfare of large animals plays a vital role in preventing zoonotic diseases and supports the One Health approach, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health. - SDG 4 – Quality Education
HiMPHarsia supports quality education by enhancing student knowledge and practical skills through experiential learning, while also providing beneficial knowledge to livestock farmers and surrounding communities. - SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
The organization promotes sustainable livestock practices through the efficient use of natural resources, reduction of waste, and environmentally responsible animal husbandry methods. - SDG 15 – Life on Land
HiMPHarsia plays a role in biodiversity conservation and sustainable land use by advocating for animal welfare and helping to preserve local livestock breeds and their ecosystems.
Staff
Members of the HiMPHarsia Student Activity Unit are students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Syiah Kuala University who have an interest in and passion for large animals and ruminants, and who have completed the established admission procedures and been declared accepted.
